Brittney Griner is found guilty of having drugs in her luggage at a Moscow airport. Griner is sentenced to 9 years for pleading guilty. When Griner pleaded guilty with 'no intent' of going to Russia having possession of drugs according to Griner herself, Griner's sentence that would have been 10 years was reduced down to 9 years. There is an outrage of Griner's sentencing of 9 years in a Russia prison. Griner has no one to blame but herself for her predicament. The notion by Biden and his administration trying to do a swap with Russia for Griner and former US Marine Paul Whelan and in return Russia would get Viktor Bout is absolutely a horrible trade for the US because Bout is a harden criminal serving a 25-year-sentence in the US.
Griner disrespected the American flag and Griner knew when Griner went to Russia with drugs coming out of the US that Griner's chances of getting busted was a big risk that Griner was taking. I don't feel sorry for someone who think because they are a pro-athlete who think that they are above the law. I don't think that anyone should get special treatment because of their skin color either. Griner is a black woman, and the media will try and sell the story in Griner's defense that she is "rotting in a jail cell" and is scared and that she is being held hostage in a Russian prison because she is black. That story doesn't fly because like any ordinary person who go into a foreign country know that if he or she have possession of drugs they will be arrested and put in jail in that country. It's that foreign country's rules and policies that is put in place. It's like when anyone who comes from a foreign country with possession of drugs to the US he or she will be arrested and put in jail here.
Lastly, those who are showing outrage for Griner, I don't hear anyone offering to swap places with Griner and take her place in a Russia prison. It's easy for anyone to say what a foreign country should do and how they should expedite someone from that foreign country back to where he or she feel that in Griner's case belong. We have to remember there will be consequences for the things we say and do both good and bad. As a Christian, I believe that Brittney Griner will turn her life to Jesus Christ and ask him to forgive her while Griner serve her 9 years in Russia prison.
